Air Fryer Apple Slices

Jump to Recipe - Print Recipe

Air Fryer Apple Slices are warm, sweet and delicious. They are slightly crispy but packed full of juicy apple flavor.

Cooked apple slices on a small white plate with apples and cinnamon sticks to the left side of the plate.

It's January.....the time of year when many people evaluate their health and fitness goals. Perhaps you ate too many goodies over the holidays, or you made a New Years resolution to get in shape, or maybe you just want to make better food choices for your overall health. Air Fryer Apple Slices are the perfect snack or dessert if you are looking for a healthy choice.

Air Fryer Apple Slices only require two ingredients and they literally take minutes to make. You can eat them straight out of the air fryer or you can drizzle them with the optional maple syrup. I like to eat mine with a scoop of vanilla frozen yogurt.

Ingredients

Ingredients measured and laid out on a brown wooden surface.
  • Apple - I used a gala apple but feel free to use whatever type of apple you have on hand.
  • Cinnamon - Adds a nice warm spice to the apple slices.
  • Maple Syrup (Optional) - Use this option if your prefer your desserts on the sweeter side.

See recipe card for quantities.

Instructions

Preheat air fryer to 375F.

Apple slices on a white cutting board.

Wash and core apple. Cut apple into slices.

Apple slices sprinkled with cinnamon on a small white place.

Sprinkle cinnamon on the apple slices.

Apple slices sprinkled with cinnamon in an air fryer basket.

Arrange apple slices in a single layer in air fryer basket.

Cooked apple slices in air fryer basket.

Cook for 5-6 minutes or until the apple slices have started to soften but are still slightly firm. Remove apples from air fryer and drizzle with maple syrup if desired. Makes 1 serving.

Hint: There is no need to grease the air fryer prior to adding the apple slices.

Substitutions

  • Apple - I used a gala apple for this recipe. You can use whatever type of apple you have on hand. If you use a granny smith apple, your apple slices will be tart.
  • Maple Syrup - You can substitute honey for the maple syrup if desired.

Equipment

Air Fryer - I used a basket style air fryer for this recipe. You can use any type of air fryer but be sure the apple slices are placed in a single layer in the air fryer.

Storage

Apple slices can be stored in the fridge in an airtight container or bag for up to three days.

I do not recommend freezing the apple slices.

Top tip

Do not overcook the apple slices because they will turn into apple mush! Cook the apple slices until they start to soften but are still slightly firm.

FAQ

Do I have to peel the apple?

There is no need to peel the apple unless it's your personal preference. Don't forget the skin adds extra nutrients.

Can I double this recipe?

Yes! Feel free to double the recipe but be sure the apple slices are placed in a single layer in the air fryer.

What pairs well with the apple slices?

A big scoop of vanilla ice cream or frozen yogurt. This is my favorite way to eat the apple slices because they taste like a piece of apple pie without the crust!
